JAIA Releases Debut CD
The talented singers from Oklahoma City, OK is set to release their exciting debut CD, a move which will thrill their army of fans across the world.
JAIA is preparing to release their debut CD November 7, 2009, making a huge stage in the career of the multi-talented singer-songwriters. JAIA, who lives Edmond/Moore, Oklahoma, has just put the final touches to the CD, and is now preparing for the imminent release that will inevitably build upon their fan base and get their music heard by more people than ever.
The CD ‘Just As I Am’ consists of twelve original songs from JAIA, each providing a combination of their melodious vocals and heartfelt lyrics. The rhythmic undercurrent bears testament to their Harmony (a group trademark), and the music is punctuated throughout with elements of contemporary gospel, hip-hop, jazz, pop, rock and R&B.
The album was recorded at Headroom Studios in Nashville, TN. It was produced by Kenneth Springs Jr., Lynda Knox, and Lisa Davis.
Other changes have affected and influenced their song-writing over recent years that developed their soul searching, soul saving, and breakthrough lyrics, an area they pay a lot of attention to and incorporate to a certain degree in their music. ‘Just As I Am’ reveals the stunning array of influences that have found their way into JAIA’s music. Our background was traditional gospel, quartet music. We wanted to bring something unique to a traditional sound. For it emphasizes rhythmic harmonies which has been enhanced by our ability to sing astonishing leads, as well as harmonic background vocals.
With a CD collection that takes up an entire room, JAIA refuses to restrict their influences to one genre of music. Instead, they have been influenced by numerous artists and genres of music from across the globe, including The Clark Sister, Beebee & Cee Cee Winans, K-ci & Jo-Jo, Patty Labelle, Ledesi, amongst many others.
JAIA does not shy away from including political references in their music, reflecting one of their other long-term interests, being a roll model for young women by exposing them to life’s trials, and tribulations. JAIA dedicates time to the Whitten-Newman Foundation, and the Oklahoma Brain Tumor Association. One of their songs includes sound bites and excerpts from the victory speech from President Barack Obama.
